Michael Chan is an accomplished and dedicated science teacher with extensive experience in the Makerspace and STEM education field. He holds a ProfGCE in Science with a specialisation in Biology from Newcastle University. As part of his course, he taught at Southmoor Academy and Kingsmeadow Community College. In addition, he possesses a Biomedical Science BSc with honours from the University of Hull, where he extensively studied various scientific disciplines, including microbiology, immunology, genetics, cancer biology, and proteomics.

Michael has over five years of teaching experience in Hong Kong. He has been able to instill the love of science and STEM education in secondary students. A strength of his is that he encourages all of his students to find their inner creator and develop their critical and creative thinking skills through problem solving. Michael seeks to enlighten students about the joys and wonders of science and STEM, while ensuring that they maintain curiosity and ask important questions to drive the inquiry process.

He has experience working with a wide range of students. Prior to joining Bloom, he served as a teaching assistant at Durham Trinity College. He provided invaluable support to students with special educational needs, creating an inclusive and nurturing learning environment. Michael's commitment to his students' well-being was evident through his proactive management of classroom behaviour and his dedication to fostering a supportive atmosphere where every student could thrive.

With a deep-rooted passion for music and a wealth of teaching experience, Serena Yip is an esteemed music educator dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians and music enthusiasts. Her journey in the field of education has been marked by a relentless pursuit of excellence and a genuine desire to make a lasting impact on the lives of her students.

Serena obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Music from the Hong Kong Baptist University, and her musical accolades include an Associate Diploma in Recital in Piano from Trinity College London and Grade 8 qualifications in both Theory and Vocal from the Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music. She has also completed the Montessori Early Childhood Teacher Education Programme in Age 3-6. This comprehensive academic foundation has enabled her to develop a holistic understanding of the art of music and children's development, which she has seamlessly integrated into her teaching approach.

Serena served as a primary class teacher and music ensemble instructor, and a Montessori teacher where she developed a deep understanding of the unique learning needs and preferences of young students. In these roles, she designed and implemented engaging lesson plans that combined foundational music theory with different instruments or hands-on and interactive activities, such as ukulele, keyboard, and melodica performance.

Sean believes in experiential learning as he aims to lead by example and inspire his students through his own active lifestyle. With a degree in Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia and a teaching certification from the University of Sunderland, he possesses a strong foundation in both the science of movement and effective pedagogy.

Passionate about the outdoors, Sean finds solace and adventure in exploring Hong Kong's lush and often overlooked natural landscapes. He believes in the transformative power of nature and strives to instill a sense of wonder and respect for the environment in his students.

Whether it is organizing exhilarating outdoor activities, coaching teams, or spending time with his family, Sean's enthusiasm shines through. He aims to inspire students to embrace an active and healthy lifestyle, while also nurturing their curiosity about the world around them.
