Jason Yu

Secondary Teacher

Jason obtained his undergraduate degree in Bachelor of Social Sciences (Government and Laws) and LL.B. from the University of Hong Kong. His passion for social sciences and humanities started off in his secondary school years, enjoying exploration about human nature in history, geography, and economics and public affairs back then. Brewing his passion for politics with history as the background of study, he wandered a little bit before returning to picking up teaching as a career.

More than a decade of teaching had seen Jason maturing into a seasoned humanities teacher, choosing Geography as his major subject to teach while never losing his interests in politics and history. Having started off his teaching career with a PGDE from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, he also went on to obtain a Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Geosciences to affirm his career as a Geography teacher, covering both physical and human geography. Experience in teaching IBDP Geography, co-ordinating Creativity, Activity and Service, as well as serving as the career master for an IB school also nurtured him a passion for providing top-notch advice to students on their future development.

As a Geography teacher, Jason believes that Geography can only be learnt through engagement in the real world through fieldwork and understanding our surrounding environment. Curiosity ignites interests, with the doorway to building up knowledge through understanding the world by paying attention to current affairs, it is even more important to contemplate through a variety of perspectives, which would lead us to better appreciation of the world and the people around us despite our differences.
